Effective Strength & Conditioning is more than just “hard sessions.” Real progress comes from the right training at the right time. Planning this properly is called periodisation. This is a complex topic and takes years of applied coaching experience to get right. At FIT4FUNCTION, we design your training year in structured phases so that you continually make progress without burning out or getting stuck. A key part of this process is reverse-engineering your program from your sport and role. We first identify exactly what your body needs to perform at its best. Your sport, movement requirements, injury history, and competition calendar. From this needs analysis, we build a plan that works backwards from your goals and moves you there step by step.

  • Your first week begins with a comprehensive performance MOT assessment.

    We evaluate movement quality, injury history and perform a thorough assessment to understand exactly where you are starting from. This session identifies strengths, limitations, and key priorities, forming the foundation of your personalised strength and conditioning program.

  • In week two, we establish your current performance benchmarks. Through structured strength, power, and conditioning tests, we identify what you can do right now under controlled load and fatigue. This gives clear, objective data on your capacity, highlights gaps that matter for your goals, and allows us to set precise targets for your personalised strength and conditioning programme moving forward.

  • Week three focuses on building momentum. We begin to progress your training volume, intensity, and complexity in a structured way, based on the results of your assessment and testing. The goal is simple: accumulate high-quality work, reinforce correct movement patterns, and start developing the strength, power, and conditioning qualities required for your sport. Each progression is planned, measurable, and aligned with your long-term performance goals.

  • In week four, the focus shifts from simply accumulating work to increasing intensity and performance demand. Loads, speed of movement, or conditioning challenges are strategically progressed to stimulate meaningful adaptation while maintaining control and sound technique. This phase is designed to push you safely beyond your comfort zone, consolidate the foundations built in previous weeks, and move you closer to the specific physical demands of your sport or goal.

  • By week eight, your training has been systematically progressed. This phase is about retesting and redefining what you are now capable of. We reassess key strength, power, and conditioning markers to measure progress against your starting point, identify new areas for development, and set the next performance targets. The aim is simple: demonstrate how far you have come, and establish your new baseline for the next stage of training.

  • After three months of structured coaching, assessment, and progressive loading, you arrive at a new level of performance. You will have built measurable improvements in strength, speed, conditioning, and resilience, with clearer movement quality and greater confidence in your body. Most importantly, you will understand how to train effectively without guesswork, keeping you progressing toward your goals long after the initial programme.
